Playing Bugfarm

Getting Started

You can choose a fast game that teaches you to play to win, or longer ones requiring more time and skill.

Every member of a family or classroom can play and save their own individual games. Groups of any size can participate in one game by taking turns each day. Players can compare their progress with each other as a competition, or compare it to a real garden as a science project.

The Shed

Play begins in the Shed. First, check out the clipboard hanging on the cork board. You don't need to view and read everything right away, but you should become familiar with it... your success may depend on it!

The Weather Station shows current conditions, but can be manually set to reflect real, local weather.

Bug Nursery

The Soldier Bug Nursery is where you raise and care for your troops. The eggs only need moist cotton balls. After they hatch, keep bugs supplied with fresh, moist cotton balls, green beans and mealworms. When the Soldier Bugs are old enough, move them into empty containers or to the wheelbarrow to take them to the garden layout.

Garden Layout

Use the garden layout to prepare your soil plots; then plant, water and maintain your 3D garden. Drop a Soldier Bug on pests to kill them in that plot for several days. But remember to save some for yourself.

3D Garden

This is where most of the "action" occurs. Here you will watch your plants grow from seedlings to large, mature plants. The 3D garden is also where your Soldier Bug will scout for pests and take them out. Since some pests only attack certain plants, gardens can be grown to favor higher scores for pest kills or healthier plants for the County Fair -- or a balance of both.

Garden Journal

Click on the Journal icon to access your Personal Game Diary. It records your progress and notes you write, and saves a picture of your garden each week.
